St. Kitts & Nevis, Two Islands, One Ferry
The Gibraltar of the Caribbean, the last railway in the West Indies, and a beach bar worth the ferry.

The smallest sovereign country in the Americas is really two islands two miles apart, and they're not alike. St. Kitts has the fortress, the sugar-train railway and the nightlife; Nevis has a single volcanic cone, one long beach, and a pace that's slower again. A short ferry links them and five days does both.

Worth the flight.

- The St. Kitts Scenic Railway, the last operating railway in the West Indies
- Pinney's Beach on Nevis, three miles of sand with Nevis Peak behind it
- Sunshine's beach bar and its Killer Bee rum punch, an institution for decades
- The South East Peninsula, where the Atlantic and Caribbean meet at Cockleshell Bay
Best months are December, January, February, March, April, May. Expect around $1,400–2,600 per person, excluding flights for the whole 5 days, excluding flights. The guide breaks that into stay, food, activities and transport so you can see where it goes.
How this stays honest
Checked August 2026
Prices, opening days and entry rules drift, and no written guide can outrun that. So costs are always ranges rather than quotes, every plan carries the date it was last checked, and the last page is six things to confirm yourself before you book anything.
I take no commission from any hotel or operator. You book everything yourself, in your own name, at the price you can see.
