St. Thomas & St. John

Two islands, one short ferry, and a national park that covers most of the better one.

Two thirds of St. John is national park, which is why it looks the way it does. No high-rise, no sprawl, and beaches that end in forest rather than concrete. This route gives St. Thomas two days for the harbour and the logistics, then four on St. John, which is where you actually want to be. No passport needed for US travellers.

What you get

The whole trip, decided.

Not a list of sights. A route someone has already walked, with the bookings that need doing early flagged, the transfers timed, and the costs written as real ranges instead of a fantasy number.

Why this one

Worth the flight.

  • Trunk Bay's underwater snorkelling trail, inside the national park
  • Waterlemon Cay, reached by a shoreline walk, with turtles and rays in the shallows
  • The Annaberg sugar plantation ruins, and the history the park presents honestly
  • Magens Bay on St. Thomas, a deep heart-shaped bay with flat water
  • Coral Bay, the scruffy, boat-dwelling other end of St. John

Best months are December, January, February, March, April, May. Expect around $2,300–4,400 per person, excluding flights for the whole 6 days, excluding flights. The guide breaks that into stay, food, activities and transport so you can see where it goes.

How this stays honest

Checked August 2026

Prices, opening days and entry rules drift, and no written guide can outrun that. So costs are always ranges rather than quotes, every plan carries the date it was last checked, and the last page is six things to confirm yourself before you book anything.

I take no commission from any hotel or operator. You book everything yourself, in your own name, at the price you can see.
